Bristol's Beauty Box to open training academy
Bristol salon Beauty Box is gearing up to launch a training academy on April 1. Beauty Box Training Academy in Clifton Down, Bristol, will offer courses in facials, massage, manicures, pedicures and waxing, as well as the salon's speciality, threading. Unlike most beauty schools, the academy will run training at weekends only and will have a maximum of four people on each course. Director Julia Vickers said this will give students the opportunity to do training outside of their working week and to receive individual attention. She added: 'The effect of programmes such as The Only Way is Essex has seen an increase in demand for male grooming treatments, so the Beauty Box Training Academy is offering a course in male waxing.' Vickers said the philosophy behind the school was to offer something different from the current training available, which is often limited to one-day courses. 'I don't believe one day is enough, so what we are offering is an initial day and then further days according to which course the students are on, after they have completed some treatments on their friends or relatives,' she added.
