Cosmoprof hails rise in visitors 're-awakening of the sleeping beauty'
The 44th edition of Italian beauty trade show Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna closed this week and reported a 21% rise in visitors to 177,287 over the four days to March 21. Organisers said that while that was predominantly due to a 25% rise in Italian visitors, a significant part of the figure was international visitors. Foreign visitors increased 8% to 36,076 and came predominantly from the US, France, Germany,Eastern Europe and the Arab countries. The show hosted 2,300 exhibitors from 58 countries across 194.000sq m at the fairground district in Bologne. Having seen visitor numbers fall in 2009 then rise more modestly last year, organiser SoGeCos hashailed the increase in numbers as a sign of a return in buyer confidence, which managing director Aureliana De Sanctis dubbed 'the re-awakening of the sleeping beauty'. Cosmoprof was held a month earlier than in previous years following feedback from exhibitors that they needed to present their spring/summer collections in more time.
