Habia Skills Academy to launch educator courses
The Habia Skills Academy (HSA) will launch a range of courses for educators in May. The courses will address industry skills gaps identified by sector skills body Habia during its Big Conversation consultation with the hair and beauty industry last year. The intensive courses will lead to VTCT qualifications. Industry areas covered will include: Level 4 male grooming; Level 4 laser and light hair removal and Level 3 hair extensions. Delivery and assessment will be provided by specialists in each field and will take place at various education centres across the country. Habia deputy chief executive Andrew Darby said: 'These courses will give educators the specialist knowledge and experience to go on and help learners develop the skills that salons and spas need, particularly in areas that clients are increasingly demanding. The HSA is working with industry manufacturers, suppliers and providers to support and sponsor the courses. Training providers already involved include Barnsley College, Leicester College, Michelle Griffin Academy in Birmingham, Reflections Academy Birmingham, Sheffield City College and The Spa at Henley in Arden. The Habia Skills Academy was established last year by Habia and aims to create of a network of centres of excellence across the UK, with the HSA acting as a virtual online hub for guidance and information.
