Massage therapy could be used as pain relief
Massage therapy is often used to ease aching muscles and promote recovery from injury, but is now thought to mimic the action of pain killing drugs, according to new research. The study published in the Science Translational Medicine journal showed that massage appears to be is clinically beneficial to reduce inflammation and promoted cell renewal in the muscles. Scientist assessed the effects of massage by administering either massage therapy or no treatment to separate quadriceps of 11 young males following exercise-induced muscle damage.
