Medallion of Excellence for UK at WorldSkills 2011
UK beauty therapy entrant Hayley Wright was awarded a Medallion of Excellence last night, during the closing ceremony of the 41st Worldskills competition, held at London Excel from October 5 to 8. Wright came joint eighth out of the 20 competitors from around the world. The overall winner was Singapore entrant Shuna Villaneuva Leong with 536 points. Wright scored a total of 510 points. Irish competitor Clare Cullen came tenth with 509 points. The competition saw 20 countries from around the world battling it in the beauty therapy category, judged on their skills in everything from massage, to machine based facials to nails and make-up. Each country was represented by just one beauty therapist. The beauty therapy contest was part of a huge international competition that involved young people showing off their skills in a wide range of vocational professions including carpentry, automobile technology, web design and floristry.
