Michelle Feeney to head new PZ Cussons premium division
PZ Cussons, the parent company of The Sanctuary and St Tropez, has announced plans to create a separate premium beauty division, which will be headed up by St Tropez chief executive Michelle Feeney. PZ Cussons Beauty Division will aim to give greater focus to the three brands that will now fall under it: tanning brand St Tropez, spas and skincare group The Sanctuary and hair care line Charles Worthington. The move follows the acquisition of St Tropez in September, when Feeney told Professional Beauty that she was already advising PZ Cussons on how to grow The Sanctuary spa chain internationally and take Sanctuary products into other spas. In her extended role, Feeney will report to Alex Kanellis, group chief executive of PZ Cussons, and will be supported by The Sanctuary's Ann Murray as UK managing director and St Tropez's Selma Terzic as international managing director. The division will be operational from June and will operate from an office in Covent Garden, London. Kanellis said: 'Following the acquisition of St Tropez in September 2010, the Group has reviewed options for the most effective structure to drivethe profitable growth of the brand on a global scale. 'Given the similarities and synergies which already exist between St Tropez, The Sanctuary and Charles Worthington, the creation of the beautydivision was the logical next step in ensuring that we realise the fullpotential of these three outstanding beauty brands and maximise their presenceboth in the UK and internationally. Michelle Feeney has transformed St Tropez since joining the business in 2006 and, prior to this, spent 11 years at Estée Lauder as part of a 25-year career in the beauty industry. Her experience will provide the division withthe drive and creative know-how to grow our premium brands in the UK and overseas.' Feeney added: 'I believe there is a significant opportunity for all three brands to grow both inthe UK and internationally. It is a unique position - we are creating a new division, headquartered in London with a core stable of British brands. The role enables me to utilise my global experience and brand-building skills to take these much loved UK ranges to new markets around the world.' The PZ Cussons Group will operate in the UK as two autonomous divisions: PZ Cussons Beauty and PZ Cussons UK, with the lattercomprising the Group's core washing and bathing portfolio, including ImperialLeather, Original Source and Carex.
