More men entering the beauty industry
An increasing number of male entrepreneurs are starting up beauty businesses, according to insurance provider Simply Business. The small business specialist said there was a 17% annual increase in male-run health and beauty businesses in 2011 and suggested this was a result of a growing profile of 'metrosexuals' in the media as well as the breaking down of gender barriers in the workplace. In addition, the number of male beauty therapists and male make-up artists both increased by 11% last year, comparted with 2010 figures. The research is based on 250,000 insurance quotes received from start-up companies to Simply Business throughout 2011.
