New skills survey to help future of beauty and spa industries
The Hair and Beauty Industry Association (Habia) is to release what it claims is the most detailed and authoritative skills survey for the hair, beauty, nails and spa industries in over five years. The survey, developed as part of Habia's 'Big Conversation', will provide the industry with a platform to speak on issues relating to skills gaps, training, qualifications, business performance, funding and future support to raise standards. Habia is hoping the results of the survey will help the association to plan future initiatives, as well as influence the Government about policy and funding for the industry. Nicola Turner, product development manager of Habia, said: 'The results will be used to create new projects and programmes designed to ensure that new recruits have the skills employers require and that training helps businesses develop their staff to meet client demand.' She added: 'It's essential that as many people as possible in the hair, beauty, nails and spa sectors take part so that we have an accurate picture and can speak to the Government with authority.' Respondents who submit a completed survey will be entered into a prize draw, with prizes ranging from Shellac training classes worth £260, to a selection of Comfort Zone products worth £300 and much more. Training providers willing to help distribute the survey could also win £1,000 worth of training from the Habia Skills Team. The survey will be available at from June 30 to September 23 2011.
