Spas and salons battle it out during the Professional Beauty Awards judging days
The judging days for the Professional Beauty Awards spas, beauty salons and employers categories kick off this week. High-profile industry judges will gather at a hotel in central London to pore over the reports from our official visitors and mystery shoppers and make their final decisions. Every spa and salon on our short list has been visited twice by the awards team. Their first visit was an official, announced visit, made on behalf of Professional Beauty by experienced assessors from Babtac. The second was from a mystery shopper who visited incognito to mark the salon on all aspects of its service and treatments. The judges will now convene to discuss the visitors' findings and make their final scores. In the employer categories, each employer has been invited down to meet the judges and be questioned in a panel interview about their training, development and incentive programmes and what they are doing to drive standards in the beauty and spa industry. Our judges over the next three days include Hellen Ward, manager of the Richard Ward Hair and Metrospa and Professional Beauty columnist, and Mary Bell, MD of the Urban Retreat spa in Manchester and U.R Beautiful in Kingston. The winners will be announced on the big night - a glamorous black tie ceremony which takes place on February 27 at the InterContinental hotel, Park Lane, London.
