UK salons to create 11,000 new jobs this year
Over a quarter (28%) of UK salons will hire additional staff this year creating more than 11,000 new hair and beauty jobs. The figure comes from the first Beautiful Britain report, conducted by hair and beauty supplier Salon Services and is a net figure based on a sample of 1,500 industry professionals surveyed in the UK. London is anticipating the largest increase in jobs where 32% of respondents said they would create roles, leading to an expected increase of 2,298 new jobs. The report also showed the demand for male hair and beauty treatments is on the rise. Two thirds (66%) of hair and beauty professionals who offer male treatments have seen an increase in male footfall over the past year. The report showed 31% of male clients are asking for massages and 30% for hair removal. Men's nail and tanning treatments have also soared with 18% and 17% of male clients asking for these treatments respectively. (Image: Spa 303)
