Handpicked Hotels acquires Guernsey spa hotel

Hand Picked Hotels has agreed terms for the acquisition of its 19th hotel, St Pierre Park Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa in Guernsey.

The luxury UK hotel group is set to purchase the four-star resort hotel from Channel Islands retail and property firm SandpiperCI for an undisclosed amount.

St Pierre Park Hotel has 131 bedrooms, conference and banqueting facilities, a leisure spa and a range of restaurants.

Handpicked said the acquisition was part of a strategic expansion to extend its presence in the Channel Islands, where it will complement Hand Picked’s L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa in St Brelade’s Bay, Jersey.

Once the deal has gone through, Handpicked will own 19 hotels, its most recent previous acquisition being Bailbrook House Hotel in Bath, which will reopen under the Handpicked umbrella in September following a £10million restoration.

Set in 35 acres of parkland, with woods and lakes, St Pierre Park Hotel has a golf course, a spa and gym, an indoor swimming pool, steam room, whirlpool, sauna and solarium.

Outdoor hotel leisure facilities include three tennis courts, a croquet lawn and a trim trail. The hotel is just outside the island’s capital, St Peter Port. The acquisition is subject to regulatory and legal clearances.
