Manchester men leading male manicure demand

Salons across Manchester have experienced a surge in demand for manicures from male customers, in addition to tanning and other treatments.

Harvey Nichols and Selfridges stores in the city have tapped into the trend, adding male-specific manicure packages to their treatment menus.

According to local publication Mancunian Matters, unisex grooming is set for growth in 2013.

Becky Fagan, a beauty therapist at Swinton salon Pamper and Polish, said: “Sunbeds get the most attention from the guys and they see we offer a range of other treatments.

“Men are more vain than women these days and have no problem coming in to have a manicure. It’s an all-year-round thing and we get young men and middle aged men.”

Male manicures in the city retail upwards of £14.
