Improve your client’s experience with a few extra touches
There are many simple ways to enhance a treatment for your client to help set you apart from the competition.
Alison Smith, winner of the Professional Beauty Therapist of the Year Award for the second year, speaks to Professional Beauty magazine about what extra touches you can add to improve client experience.
“Creating an ambience in the treatment room by using music, lighting, fragrance, temperature and candles is very important to the client’s first impression. I always like to use heated blankets, especially in winter, as they warm the client up after getting undressed and also relax them before even starting their treatment. Supplying a chair and basket in the room for clients to put their clothes and belongings in helps them feel assured that their things are kept clean and safe during the treatment. I also place a jewellery bag on the couch for them to put any valuables in and this can be taken home for them to keep. At Skin & Tonic, we choose to set up the beds with sheets and a duvet instead of towels, as this is much softer to the touch and much cosier. Quite often I use a bolster to go under the knees to take the pressure off the back or add support elsewhere in the body. It is so important to me to ensure every client feels special and receives my undivided attention. I tailor treatments to meet their specific needs and desires. Following treatments I always provide detailed aftercare advice and honest product recommendations, which ensure clients return regularly.”
