How to create a successful business plan
Figuring out your business plan for the coming year doesn’t have to be a headache.
Elizabeth Caroline, celebrity facialist and owner of Aquavie salon in Kent, reveals her four rules for writing a business plan that will set your salon or spa on the road to success.
In our exclusive video, Caroline covers brand messaging, social media scheduling, what marketing you need to do and why you need to embrace industry trends.
Caroline’s four rules for business planning:
1. Your brand message should be clear
“I think the mistake a lot of salon owners make is not knowing who their core customer is,” says Caroline. “They need to decide who their clientele base is going to be. Once they’ve got that then they can decide on how they’re going to market themselves.”
2. Train up in social media
“Social media is massive. It can be a very effective tool to market your business. However, what I think a lot of salon owners do is concentrate on too many channels,” explains Caroline. “Ascertain which social media channel works for you and stick to that.”
3. Have a solid marketing plan
“I tend to do it mid-year and I will work out my marketing plan for the next year. So, it’s good to find key events that happen throughout the year… but also find out when the half-terms fall in your area as they will be your quieter times,” says Caroline.
4. Take notice of industry trends
“The holistic, mindfulness approach to business and to offer in your treatments has really expanded in the last couple of years, so I think that’s going to be a massive trend,” explains Caroline. “In nail bars in New York you can have your tarot cards read or reiki healing as you’re having your nails done.”
