Chiva-Som International Academy launches online courses

The Bangok-based academy has launched online courses to provide e-learning to spa owners, managers and therapists.

The courses from Chiva-Som International Academy (managed by Chiva-Som resort) aim to provide education to wellness professionals with three different programmes, including Anatomy and Physiology, Spa Development and Spa Management.

The courses are open for submission with up to 15 participants per course, who will each have the opportunity to speak with experienced educators in each field.

The Anatomy and Physiology course (running July 13-24 and September 14-25) provides a basic introduction to the human body, covering areas such as structure and function of the human body, including disease and disorder. It’s a resource for those working in beauty therapy or complementary therapy and will give participants access to vital knowledge that will help therapists administer treatments safely and accurately while recognising contraindications.

Theory examinations will be conducted at the end of the course and separate CIBTAC examination dates will be issued annually by the examining board. Once completed, the E-CSA Professional Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology will be awarded.

The Spa Development course will provide guidance on how to start up, implement and operate a spa business during the coronavirus pandemic. It is suitable for both spa start-ups and those who are looking to launch their own spa business.

The Spa Management course looks at operations via the nine key functions of a spa manager along with providing an understanding and knowledge in managing a spa, making it suitable for both spa owners and spa managers who are looking to reach their business goals. Previous experience in the industry is preferred, but not essential.

Both the Spa Development and Spa Management courses can be arranged subject to the participant’s time zone and number of registered applicants from August 1 onwards. All courses will be conducted in English.

In other news, the Global Wellness Summit has announced its new location for 2020.
