Kira Walton joins Global Wellness Day as Irish Ambassador
Kira Walton, co-founder of Irish organic marine skincare brand, Voya, has been announced as Ireland’s official ambassador for Global Wellness Day, which takes place on June 13 2015.
Global Wellness Day is an international non-profit organisation with a simple concept: to dedicate one day a year to ‘honouring a universal acceptance of good living and a healthy lifestyle’. A social platform has been created to raise awareness worldwide of the importance of physical and mental wellbeing through various mediums; bringing people together, exercise, healthy eating, organic choices and personal spirituality.
39 spa industry players from over 30 countries are involved in the day. Walton met the founder of Global Wellness Day, Belgin Aksory, at the Global Spa Summit in Morocco last year.
The movement encourages a focus on personal wellbeing, outlining seven possible manifestos to follow on the day: Drink more water, walk for a half hour every day, shop locally and eat organically, stop using plastic bottles, do a good deed every day, eat a family dinner, and go to bed at 10pm.
Walton commented: “I am delighted that Voya has joined with Global Wellness Day and that I have been appointed brand ambassador for Ireland. To draw attention to the basic need to feel well is extremely important in creating a healthy and happier world. We are encouraging our spa partners to take part in and host Global Wellness Day activities to boost awareness around this significant idea.”
