PB meets Barbara Freytag, Founder of The Academy of Advanced Beauty
The Academy of Advanced Beauty is an independent centre of excellence aimed to help beauty therapists improve their skills offering in depth training of treatments across a range of technologies, rather than simply providing a guide to operating a particular machine.
PB: What is your most popular product and what do you think makes it popular?
BF: Our Microdermabrasion courses including face and body treatments. Apart from being an integral part of many facial treatment packages, MD courses cover a basic understanding of the treatment of scars, stretch marks, acne and other skin imperfections. Almost all of our graduates have greatly expanded the range of treatments they offer after graduating, through greater understanding of what other treatments can be combined.
PB: What makes your products special over the competition?
BF: Our focus is on treatments benefitting the client, resulting in greater client satisfaction and increased business for the salon, not how to work a particular machine.
PB: How cost effective are your products when introducing them into a salon?
BF: The cost of one of our courses can be recovered in weeks, if not days, in a salon through a combination of value added by more efficient use and understanding of combined treatments and increased services offered.
PB: Do you provide any extra services for professionals who use your products in their salons?
BF: All operating staff benefit from a constructive “refresher” course, particularly on new and still evolving technology - we offer CPD points and have a successful track record of training teaching staff at many UK Colleges as new technology is offered in Beauty courses.
PB: Why should salon owners visit your stand at the show?
BF: To reacquaint themselves with what is now available and how it could transform their business if their staff were more comprehensively trained and their competencies expanded.
PB: Are you having anything new on your stand at the show?
BF: We can now offer Internationally recognised CIBTAC Endorsed training certification for many of our courses.
PB: Will you be having any special offers exclusive to the show?
BF: Yes, we are offering an introductory 50% off across the entire range of our new aesthetic courses booked and paid for during the show.
PB: Any other plans for the show?
BF: We will be doing a BABTAC seminar on Ultrasound for Skin Rejuvenation and Wrinkle Reduction at the Show.
PB: What tips would you give salon owners looking to introduce a new line into their salon?
BF: Do your homework! On offer will be lots of exciting new equipment, with prices ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. Research your client base to see what they want, then make sure your team have the training and confidence in the treatments to go with any new equipment you may buy to supplement your current menu.
