Professional Beauty meets Jon Exley, MD of Lynton Lasers

What is the background of the company and what type of products do you offer?

The origins of the Lynton can be traced back to the University of Manchester where two physicists created the company back in 1994.  At that time, they were researching Q-Switched lasers for tattoo removal and launched one of the world’s first Q-switched Nd:YAG tattoo removal lasers – The Paragon Laser.  Lynton was immediately inundated with requests for the Paragon Laser from all over the globe and the business grew from strength to strength. Lynton now supplies a vast range of lasers/IPL including the world’s first triple wavelength Q-switched tattoo removal laser and the best-selling Lumina Q.

As part of its continued expansion, Lynton has recently been approved to supply Lasers/IPL to the NHS through the NHS Supply Chain.  In addition to lasers for aesthetic skin applications, Lynton also offers lasers for surgical treatments including applications in Urology and ENT.

Lynton also has its own specialist training centre and clinic in South Manchester – The Lynton Clinic, providing courses in Laser/IPL in conjunction with scientists from the University of Manchester.

What is your most popular product and what do you think makes it popular?

Many years ago Lynton developed a concept that customers could invest in a platform system which they could up-grade to expand their treatment range as their business grew and prospered.  The resulting product was the world famous Lumina IPL and Laser platform.  The Lumina combines multiple technologies which enables the system to offer many different treatments, among which a variety of vascular and pigmented lesions, tattoo removal, fractional skin rejuvenation, active acne, which in-turn allows the salon or clinic to generate more revenue.  However, unlike many platform systems, the Lumina is a medically certified device and is designed to be versatile without compromising clinical efficacy. That’s why the Lumina is used throughout the world by doctors and practitioners and has been installed in numerous NHS hospitals.

What makes your products special over the competition?

Lynton is proud to offer high quality products that deliver outstanding clinical results but which are exceptionally good value.  We have a team of Ph.D. scientists who design, develop and test all the products in our portfolio to ensure that our system work to the highest standards and use the latest technology. As such, customers have the reassurance that Lynton  systems deliver the highest level of clinical outcomes for their clients – happy clients become loyal repeat clients which help grow your business.

Lynton manufactures and supplies Lasers/IPL with FDA approval and which are built to strict medical device standards.   Our technology is developed by a team with over twenty years’ experience in the industry helping us understand the difference between good technology and in Lynton’s case, outstanding technology.

How cost effective are your products when introducing them into a salon?

Over the years Lynton has developed a product range to meet the needs of all types of clinics and salons.  By establishing the Lynton Clinic in 2007, we also understand how to generate revenue from Lase/IPL treatments and this has influenced our product range which cater for all types of business.  The Luminette offers fantastic value as an entry level IPL system for salons looking to start offering such treatments for the first time.  With such a wide variety of products, customers can find a product to suit their budget and we can offer the ability to up-grade in the future through part ex-change of existing Lynton systems.  However, one key thing to remember is how much income you can generate with Laser/IPL – in my experience clinics can afford a Lynton system as our products will generate more than enough revenue to fund the purchase.

Do you provide any extra services, advice or training programmes for professionals who use your products in their salons?

Lynton has developed a wide range of excellent support services to ensure that our customers gain a competitive advantage and successfully grow their businesses.

Clinical training and support is a key aspect of our service with a highly qualified team of clinical trainers who all have a hands-on clinical background with our products.

As most customers invest in Laser/IPL to generate revenue, Lynton offer a range of financial options to enable salons and clinics to introduce such technology.  Our rental option is particularly popular for those establishments wishing to test their local market before making a long term financial commitment.

Lynton also assists salons and clinics with marketing support to drive business and increase revenue.  All our customers are featured on our “clinic finder” website and Lynton can provide a whole variety of patient information leaflets, posters, website templates and more.  All of which makes it easier for our customers to generate demand for Laser/IPL treatments.

Why should salon owners visit your stand at the show?

All our staff are knowledgeable, friendly and would love to discuss how Lynton can help grow your business with Laser/IPL technology.  Whether you’re just starting out or want to enhance your existing Laser/IPL service, our team of Business Development Consultants can help. By visiting our stand you will have the opportunity to ask questions, see the latest technology and meet our team of experts in a friendly and informative environment!

Are you having anything new on your stand at the show?

Yes, we will be bringing the brand new Duetto MT workstation, performing an extensive range of hair removal applications, as well as vascular and photo-rejuvenation treatments.
Will you be having any special offers exclusive to the show?
We will be offering 0% finance on selected systems combined with the ultimate support package in the laser & IPL market, giving the flexibility to pay in monthly instalments with no additional charges.

Any other plans for the show?

We will be talking on the Advanced & Aesthetic Stage, on Monday at 1pm, about how to treat rosacea, thread veins and pigmentation, demonstrating our latest technologies.

What tips would you give salon owners looking to introduce a new line into their salon?

Developing your business with Laser/IPL is easier than you think when you use a supportive and experienced supplier.  Here a few key tips to consider:

Choose high quality equipment - does it have a medical devices certificate or is the equipment used by credible establishments such as the NHS?

Ensure that the supplier can offer a high level of aftersales support – how thorough is clinical training and what back-up is there for on-going support?  How about technical assistance and responses time – are there enough engineers to provide a fats and flexible service?

Don’t believe the hype – it’s all too easy to read the glossy marketing brochure that describes how good the company or equipment might be.  Ask for reference sites or better still, look up clinics using the same equipment and speak directly to them.  Are they happy with the equipment and support they’ve received – there is nothing better than speaking to existing customers before making any final decisions.

What else is taking place at the moment outside of the show activities?
We are very proud to be an established UK manufacturer since 1994 and are looking forward to the celebrations for our twentieth birthday year!  Lynton’s longevity and success over these last 20 years can be attributed to our high quality equipment, excellent aftersales support and our hundreds of loyal customers – to whom I would like to say a big thank you!
