Cruise liner Seaborn launches on-board wellness initiative
Luxury cruise liner Seabourn is introducing a wellness programme at the on-board Spa at Seabourn, it has been announced.
The wellness programme is launching in collaboration with holistic and integrative health specialist Dr Andrew Weil.
The programme, which will be rolled out to the spas on-board all cruise ships in the Seabourn fleet, will be led by on-board wellness guides, a new role to the Seabourn group.
Developed with the aim of “integrating physical, social, environmental and spiritual wellbeing”, the programme will launch on-board the Seabourn Encore’s maiden voyage in January 2017.
It will then be rolled out across the other Seabourn cruise ships later in 2017 and in 2018.
Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn, said: "By partnering with Dr. Weil, a pioneer in integrative medicine, we will deliver an even greater degree of mind and body programs that ensure you can break away, relax and rejuvenate while you travel with us.”
Dr Weil will sail on-board a different Seabourn ship every year, delivering a one-hour lecture for guests and hosting group discussions. The seven-day wellness programme will include complimentary yoga sessions, with a wide selection of classes to choose from.
Options will range from restorative yoga and yoga for back and joint pain, body alignment and headaches, to yoga to enhance creativity and improve mental focus.
There will also be a series of classes focusing on body and mind, with topics including: Spontaneous Happiness & Spontaneous Healing; Anti-inflammatory food; Healthy Ageing; and Introduction to Mindful Mediation.
Several of the seminars have been developed from Dr Weil’s research and teachings in the field.
