Four Seasons appoints new head of global spa task force

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has appointed Michael Newcombe as chair of its Global Spa and Wellness Taskforce.

The taskforce, which includes senior spa and wellness professionals from around the world, spearheads the Four Seasons’ global spa strategy.

Newcombe, who is general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, has been Americas Task Force Lead for the past four years.

Explaining that he will place holistic centre at the centre of the task force’s strategy, Newcome said: “Wellness isn’t just about appearance or feeling good, it’s about restoring and maintaining balance, physically and mentally.

“Whether it’s eating healthy and staying active while on a business trip or taking time to relax and recharge while on vacation, our goal is to create highly personalised, holistic spa experiences for each of our guests.”

Newcombe has been with Four Seasons since 1991. Roles in that time include general manager of Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, and Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village

Four Seasons currently operates 97 spas around the world, as part of its global hotel and resort portfolio. Commenting on the hotel and resort group’s global spa and wellness strategy, Newcombe said:

“Authenticity and service have always been fundamental to Four Seasons spa experiences and the key to our global success. “Helping our guests stay grounded is a vital part of any wellness experience, and a great sense of that grounding comes from genuine service and local authenticity.”
