Huffington Post founder to launch wellness training platform
The Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington is leaving the publication to launch Thrive Global, an online platform dedicated to health and wellness training.
Thrive Global, which will launch this autumn, is described as "a corporate and consumer wellbeing and productivity platform" and will offer training, seminars, e-courses, coaching, and ongoing support based on research in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, productivity, sports, and sleep.
The company said its approach would be based on the principle of microsteps "so that people can more easily go from knowing what’s best for them to actually doing it".
Huffington announced yesterday that the company had closed its "Series A funding round", having secured sufficient investment to launch.
Huffington said about the launch, “For far too long we have been operating under a collective delusion that burning out is the necessary price for achieving success. This couldn’t be less true. All the latest science is conclusive that, in fact, not only is there no trade-off between living a well-rounded life and high performance, but performance is actually improved when we prioritise our health and well-being. It’s time to move from knowing what to do to actually doing it.”
Thrive Global will offer an integrated programme through partnerships. Some of the partners already on board include Altus for physical training, Bob Roth and the David Lynch Foundation for meditation coaching, Sense by Hello for sleep education and Thrive Market for food and nutrition.
She added: "Since publishing [my book] Thrive and then The Sleep Revolution, I've dreamt of taking the next big step to help transform the way we work and live. When I decided to create Thrive Global, I thought it would be possible to build a startup and continue as editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post. As Thrive Global moved from an idea to a reality, with investors, staff, and offices, it became clear to me that I simply couldn’t do justice to both companies."
Thrive Global has begun pilot training and workshops with Accenture, a professional services company with a workforce of 375,000.
