Murad reveals plans for 2016

Skincare brand Murad will roll out its Murad Method facial protocol to its UK accounts starting early this year. Y Spa at Wyboston Lakes in Bedfordshire and Urban Retreat in Harrods, London, were the first to add the service to treatment menus in winter 2015.

The method employs founder Dr Howard Murad’s philosophy of inclusive health to provide a bespoke treatment encompassing nutrition and wellness principles. It teaches therapists to analyse skin through exclusive techniques and determine the client’s needs through a detailed health assessment form which asks the client to identify both primary and secondary skin concerns as well as rate their satisfaction with other parts of their life including sleep, supportive relationships and exercise.

Adding a unique element to the consultation, Murad therapists will be trained to anaylse the skin by tracing each letter of the word Murad over the face to enable them to focus on every area and identity problems such as dehydration and congestion that might not be present on another part of the face.

“Each time they return the therapist will map those letters out again from the skin analysis, so the client can see how the skin is improving,” said Andrea Craig, Murad UK training manager.

After the treatment clients will choose a positive affirmation card to take away based on what wellness advice they feel most applies to them. Therapists may also give recipe cards based on the nutrition the client’s skin would most benefit from, as identified in the consultation. Clients also receive a colour coded “skin health plan” after the treatment.

Alongside the roll-out, the brand’s plans for 2016 include more UK department store counter openings following Debenhams in Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool, House of Fraser in Newcastle and Harrods Urban Retreat in London, in summer and autumn 2015.
