PB Nail Competition Superhero Category winners announced

After pushbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re happy to finally be able to announce the winners of our Superhero categories from the Professional Beauty Nail Competition in 2020.
Nail techs from across the country went head-to-head across three categories – Photographic (Classic), Photographic (Nail Art) and Hand Painted Nail Art (boxed) – organised by Denise Wright of the Denise Wright Nail Academy to see who would be crowned the winners in the PB Nail Competition Superhero category.
Judged by nail artist and educator Linda Hill; award-winning nail specialist and educator Jacqui O' and Hazel Dixon, owner and founder of Hazel Dixon nails, competitors were scored on a range of factors, from the “wow factor” to length consistency, to decide the winners.
The winners of the Superhero Category from the Professional Beauty London Nail Competitions 2020 are:
Photographic (Classic)
Winner: Anita Chahal
Second place: Sharon Gregory
Third place: Danielle Brough
In this category competitors were given a score out of 10 across 19 categories, including “wow factor”, whether the image would make a good cover shot, originality of the photograph, design complexity and use of background, composition, focus and lighting, polish finish, and choice of hand model.
The winning Thor-themed photograph saw long stiletto nail extensions in a bright blue shade grasping the hammer with a lightening effect.
Photographic (Nail Art)
Winner: Laura Anikanovaite
Second place: Lisa Graves
Third place: Froukje Groenendijkj
This category saw competitors scored on elements like nail art mediums used, intricacy of design, whether the design was theme appropriate, use of colours, and hand and nail positioning in the photograph.
The winning image depicted “Wonder Mom” – long pink and blue nail extensions with a “WM” charm on the fourth finger and star details.
Hand Painted Nail Art (Boxed)
Winner: Lisa Molloy
Second Place: Corinna Ball
Competitors were challenged to hand paint superhero-themed nail art on a set of press-on nails presented in a box. In this category, competitors were judged on 14 elements, including blending, design complexity, depth and perspective, and whether the use of a matte/gloss finish enhanced the final design.
The winning nails in this category involved incredible nail art showing “Super Mammy”, with detailed nail art and charms.
Congratulations to all the winners and well done to everyone who competed.
