Bodycare and "Blue Beauty" set to trend in 2024

Pinterest's annual Pinterest Predicts report is back for 2024, as the "not-yet-trending" report gives insight to emerging trends for the next in beauty and more.

The annual report has named three stand-out beauty trends to have on your radar for 2024: Blue Beauty, Head to Glow, and Make It Big, with a whole host of other trends within the celebrations, fashion, hobbies and interests and home subcategories we're also expecting to feed into the beauty world over the next year.

Speaking to Professional Beauty about the report, Pinterest UK's head of beauty Tom Spratt said, “While many brands look back at what’s been trending, at Pinterest, we reveal the trends which will be big the following year with our future-gazing Pinterest Predicts report.

"It’s a bit like having a crystal ball, as across the past four years, 80% of predictions have come true – making it perfect for professionals in the beauty space to get ahead on 2024’s trends before they even happen!"

Beauty trends predictions for 2024

Blue Beauty

Something both Gen Z and Millennials alike can agree on is that blue is back, so take inspo from 00s frosted eyes and bold blue liner from the 60s as you reclaim the trend for 2024.

The brand's global search data from September 2021 to August 2023 revealed that searches for "fun blue nails" have increased by 260% as nail art lovers use the platform to search for their next set, as well as searches for "blue eyeshadow aesthetic" rising by 65% and "aqua make-up look" by 100%.

Spratt encourages MUAs and nail techs to "Inspire clients to opt for all things blue as the ‘Blue Beauty’ trend will take over. Aquamarine make-up is back, bolder and brighter than ever with Gen Z continuing to carve their own path when it comes to beauty.

"This may be cobalt blue gel nails, pastel blue eyeshadows or aqua mascara, so definitely suggest these as options when clients come in for appointments."

Head to Glow

From suncare to spa experiences, "Pinners" are searching for more bodycare content as the subcategories sees huge growth as searches for "body skin care routine" rise a huge 1,025%.

Gen Z and Boomers appear to be the most invested generations when it comes to bodycare, as they search for a spa-like feeling at home.

"Bodycare is also expected to have a major moment in 2024, luxury lotions and self-care spa experiences will be a firm favourite," shares Spratt.

"Beauty professionals can promote rest through head and hand massages, rejuvenating scrubs and luxury moisturisers, which are sure to go down a treat."

Make It Big

The final trend prediction in the beauty subcategory, consumers will be opting for bigger and bolder hairstyles and accessories as seachers for "fluffly hair" aesthetics, "big braids hairsyles" and "sculptural jewelry" all increase.

Bow Stacking

In the fashion subcategory, Millennials and Gen Z are searching for ways to elevate their look by adding bows to outfits, shoes, hair and more – and trend we're already seeing take over the nail world, too.
