Professional nail market sees 6% growth
The global professional nail care market grew by 6% in 2015, according to a new report from Kline.
The market analyst’s Professional Nail Care: Global Market Brief reveals that the growth was largely driven by the popularity of hybrid nail polishes, offering a combination of gels and traditional polishes, and innovations in removal techniques.
Removal techniques are increasingly a priority for consumers, as they show concern about damaging their nails.
In response to this, brands are introducing products designed for easy removal, from peel-of base coats and steamers to remove gels and acrylics, to foil wraps for the removal of gel polishes and soak-off gels. Brands that offer foil wraps include Cuccio and Nubar.
However, Kline highlighted that while the removals segment is thriving in western markets, regions such as Asia are less focused on this aspect, remaining more driven by nail art.
Kline commented that the hybrid polishes are primarily targeted at polish customers. Agnieszka Saintemarie, the report’s project manager, said:
“These products particularly target nail polish users, while gel users only use it for a shorter period of time, wanting to take a break from gels.”
