Yon-Ka celebrates 60 years of success
In 1954, at a time when almost no one talks about essential oils, Botany aficionados Cécile, Ernest and Charles Mühlethaler create “Laboratoires Multaler”, a 100% French family business. They test the therapeutic properties of essential oils on themselves and on family and friends and rapidly become pioneers in the aromatherapy field. Their first creations are designed for medical use by physiotherapists and many of the first Yon-Ka products are still at the forefront of the product catalogue.
A major turning point for Yon-Ka took place in 1968 when Françoise and Catherine, the daughters and nieces of the founders, become the respective CEO and Managing Director of “Laboratoires Multaler”.
Françoise is a biochemist and Catherine is a beautician. This complementarity adds a new dimension to the brand: the expertise of manual techniques. Treatments become holistic. This is a sector in which, once again, Yon-Ka is a forerunner.
Little by little, they equip it with the most cutting-edge industrial tools: production in line with the norms of the pharmaceutical industry in a filtered air environment. Internally, they develop the Research and Development, Quality and Applications departments with a team of pharmacists, chemical engineers, biologists, bacteriologists and beauticians for perfect control of each and every manufactured product and an objective measurement of their effectiveness.
The Family legacy continues in 2016 with Yon-Ka present in over 50 countries worldwide. Alexis Wolkowinski, the grandson of the founders and UK General Manager says that he is as driven and committed to the core values of his parents and will continue to share this with each and every Yon-Ka professional and aesthetician.
