Tried and tested: Ark Skincare Age Protect Facial

As the youngest member of the Pro Beauty team I was nominated to road test Ark’s new facial at its flagship salon in Putney. Aimed at those in their teens or early 20s, the facial is designed to clear blemishes and balance temperamental skin with the aim of keeping the early signs of ageing at bay.

On paper the treatment includes a thorough cleanse and steam, extractions, balancing massage and calming masque, but my therapist Caroline had a good look at my skin and tailored the plan to exactly what I needed. She told me my cheeks and the skin under my eyes were dehydrated, my nose and chin were congested, and I was breaking out in the patch between my brows.

There’s not usually much to be said for make-up removal in facials but I really liked the way Caroline removed my mascara. She folded a cotton pad and placed it gently under my lower lash line to make sure I wasn’t left with panda eyes after the facial, which I hate.

The Triple Action Exfoliator, which has a lovely milky oil texture, together with Caroline’s thorough extraction technique, left me decongested and ready for the Hydration Injection Masque. She blended this with two different Skin Perfector Serums for use on different parts of my face – either Hydrating or De-stress, depending on what was needed where.

I was then left for the mask to take effect before Caroline returned to treat me to a nice facial massage using light, lingering strokes.
