The 2025 Competitions are for make-up professionals and students who want to compete and show off their skills while rewarding entrants with valuable networking and learning opportunities. 

Judged by industry professionals, let your skills be seen by the best. An awards ceremony and certification handout will take place after the judging to award excellence of skills displayed.

How To Enter

To enter a make-up competition:

1. Register for your free ticket to Professional Beauty and Hair North 2025

2. Go to the 'What's On' section and click the Make-Up Competitions.

3. Choose the category/categories you would like to enter.

4. Add to basket and follow through to checkout.

    Bridal Choice of Glam/ Natural/ Traditional Professionals Only TIME ALLOWED - 2 hours Model: Any gender and aged over 16 Style: Top to toe – makeup, hair and clothing Theme: Best of Bridal – Choose from Glamorous, Natural or Traditional To ensure a successful and captivating presentation for your bride, it is essential to align their vision whether it embraces glamour, celebrates her natural beauty, or honours cultural heritage, while meeting the expectations of even the most discerning clients. Your goal is to encapsulate your bride's unique essence through impeccable makeup, hair, nails, and overall styling. Keep in mind that your final look should be impactful from both a distance and up close. It is critical to plan the overall appearance, incorporating both hair and makeup. Preliminary hair preparations, such as setting hair in rollers or grips, may be completed before the competition begins. You will need to perform the final styling of your model's hair and execute all makeup applications from start to finish within the designated timeframe. You have the option to collaborate with a clothing stylist or personally dress the model. Your Mood Board should effectively illustrate your inspiration and vision, including a headshot of your model in her natural state. This will serve as a visual aid when discussing your creation with the judges. Ensure your model is styled to complement your overall look, utilising thoughtfully selected clothing and immaculate hair to reflect your artistic direction.

    Registration - Creative Front Cover

    TIME ALLOWED - 2 hours Professionals and students Model: Any gender and aged over 16 Style: Head and Shoulders – makeup, hair and clothing Theme: Underwater Realm. This category requires you to create a visually compelling look suitable for a front cover. Your design should be detailed and intricate, showcasing your keen sense of colour and creativity. It is essential that your final presentation can withstand close scrutiny. You should create a look inspired by the ocean. Please plan your overall look to include both hair and makeup. Preliminary hair preparation, such as using rollers or grips, may be conducted before the competition begins. Within the allotted time, you are expected to perform the final styling of your model's hair and complete all makeup application from start to finish. Hair styling techniques may include the use of wigs, hairpieces, false hair, headdresses, hats, etc. Note that garments in this category need only to cover the torso, rather than being full-length. Your accompanying Mood Board should illustrate your inspiration and vision, and it must feature a headshot of your model's natural appearance. You will have the opportunity to discuss your creation with the judges to provide insight into your artistic process.

    Theme-Animalistic Body Art TIME ALLOWED - 4 hours for pros – 3 hours for students. Students paint the front of the upper body only and may costume the head and lower body to match their design. Pros paint the entire body. Model: Any gender and aged over 16 In 2025, we invite you to dive deep into the realm of creativity and inspiration, where your imagination can truly soar! This is your moment to elevate your design to breathtaking new heights. Our esteemed judges are on the lookout for extraordinary artistry—whether it be the gentle strokes of a brush and sponge or the precision of an airbrush. This is where costume, headpiece, and visionary props come together in a spectacular symphony of innovation! As you embark on this creative journey, remember the key elements that will ignite your work: your unique interpretation of the theme, the careful application of your artistic vision, and the exquisite adornments that enhance your masterpiece. Technique and consideration for your fellow competitors will set you apart as you transform your canvas into pure magic! Embrace the disciplines at your fingertips: feel the freedom to wield airbrush, brush, and sponge in harmony. Stencils can be a wonderful aid but let them be a mere whisper in your design, comprising no more than 15% of your overall creation. Remember, nudity is not permitted; models must wear suitable protective underwear and professional-grade nipple covers to maintain a respectful and professional atmosphere. Mood boards are not just a requirement; they are your canvas of vision, accounting for 10% of the overall marks! Make sure they’re no larger than A3 to keep your visions focused and detailed. Let every stroke, every embellishment, and every thoughtful detail reflect the passion and commitment you pour into your art. This is your chance to transform not just faces, but hearts and minds through your extraordinary designs. COMPULSORY All models must have underwear / covers fitted away from any public area. Only professional paint, make-up products, adhesives and removers may be used.     Online-Insta Makeup Entry deadline: Thursday the 18th of September 2025 5pm Online Public Vote will open: Thursday the 25th of September 2025 Theme-HORROR Purpose: To create a photo, you would be proud to showcase your skills and business. This image should showcase your skills, and your creativity. There will be two awards for this competition. • Image must be of a high resolution for printing purposes (300dpi). • You must provide a short video reel of you creating the design or image step by step of your entry (this will not be scored, this is for proof of authenticity) • Images can be used on social media after you have submitted your entry. • Professional competition judging team will score all images based on set judging criteria and scores. 1st, 2nd ,3rd placings will be awarded. • Online PUBLIC vote where the photo that’s most popular will win the Voters’ Choice Award. • All entries MUST be submitted digitally to pbcompetitions@thepbgroup.com before the agreed deadline, please ensure your full name is on your email. No entries received after the deadline will be judged and no entries will be accepted at the competition. • You may enter a maximum 3 entries into this category; however, they must be different work and cannot be the same make up application in a different pose. Only 1 of your highest scoring entries can place in the top 3.
