Durham,to be the largest independent Beauty Salon in the Northeast of England. She is also one of the Directors on the Professional Board for BABTAC helping to represent and raise Industry Standards for the Beauty Industry. She is also a committee member for The Har & Beauty Charity. Her down to earth, light-hearted approach has made her an International Speaker and a long established Awards Judge. She has an online business turnaround programme called ‘Salon Success Freedom’ and is the creator of the Exclusive Beauty Directors Club, an ever-growing global membership and close community for salon, clinic, and spa business owners with business resources and multi expert advice and guidance. Susan is the founder of her trademarked STABLE business formula, plus the Author of ‘The Little Book of Client Retention’ and the international no 1 best selling books, Best and the Best 1 & 2. Her podcast, Beauty Business Matters addresses salon business issues via interviews with high profile professionals and CEO's from the Beauty Industry.

    Joan is a Beauty and Spa expert, a skills consultant, and an award-winning educationalist, specialising in Further Education and Apprenticeships. Her last senior leadership role in the further education sector was Assistant Principal at Trafford College Group (TCG) leading strategically on apprenticeships and adult learning. As CEO and Chair of the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) Joan leads the team to develop national standards, endorse high quality training and promote education, excellence and professionalism. She also hosts ‘Education Forums’, keeping educators aware of current challenges and opportunities. Joan is author of The Official Guide to Spa Therapy and so-author of Beauty and the Best and Fit for purpose Leadership. Her passion for the industry has seen her visit spas all around the world, including Abu Dhabi, Budapest, Dubai, Iceland, India, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Thailand. Joan promotes the achievement of Government regulated qualifications for those entering the sector. She is passionate about the pursuit of technical excellence and the impact of skill competitions, helping learners to go further, faster in their careers.
