New beauty academy for mobile therapists and MUAs launches

A new beauty academy has launched providing business support and consultancy to mobile beauty therapists, make-up artists and home-based salon owners.

The Blush Academy, based in Putney, South London, aims to fill the gap between the technical skills learned at college and the daily challenges faced when running a business with classes and interactive seminars that provide an in-depth insight into the market.

Classes will cover what’s involved when starting up a new business to takeaway action points ready to implement, and include pre-course surveys and post-course action plans.

Founder Zara Elliot said: “The formal training students receive nowadays is excellent, however, they’re not taught about business so are very much fish out of water when it comes to setting up alone.”

Elliot has 20 years’ experience in the industry, having built her business up from rented rooms within hair salons to Zara Elliot Beauty salon in New Malden, Surrey, which has achieved 400% growth since 2013.

The academy provides one-day beauty, health and safety, and marketing management courses.
