Shared Beauty Secrets partners with Wellness for Cancer

Massage provider Lava Shell has partnered with cancer-focused education organisation Wellness for Cancer to adapt one of its treatments to suit those receiving treatment for or in remission from cancer.

Shared Beauty Secrets, which distributes Lava Shell in the UK, has worked with non-profit organisation Wellness for Cancer to develop the Lava Shell Wellness Massage.

The massage combines the use of moderately warm shells with cool shells, to maintain a balanced temperature and ensure there is no risk of overheating. As with the original Lava Shell massage, the aim is for the treatment to have a deeply relaxing effect and to ease muscle tension and pain.

Wellness for Cancer and Shared Beauty Secrets have also developed a two-stage treatment training, available only to therapists already trained in the Lava Shell massage. The first stage takes place online, with therapists then moving on to hands-on training during the second stage.

Clare Anderson, founder of Shared Beauty Secrets, said: “Incorporating gentle warmth into massage gives deeply rewarding benefits and we are absolutely delighted that we can now safely offer this to our clients with or post cancer.”

Wellness for Cancer focuses on educating the spa and wellness industry on how to work with clients currently dealing with or recovering from cancer.

In addition to training, the organisations also awards Cancer Aware certificates to spas and wellness business around the world that have trained their staff in working with cancer patients.

Julie Bach, executive director of Wellness for Cancer, said: “We are thrilled to partner with such an innovative company and excited that Shared Beauty Secrets is committed to supporting their spas and salons in providing clients with services that will help them manage medical treatments and lead healthier lifestyles.”
