Botox, laser therapy and dermal fillers named top 2012 aesthetic procedures
2012’s most popular aesthetic procedures were botox, laser treatments and dermal fillers, according to international marketing company Ideate Media.
Botox remains the leader in the toxins market and the industry is now estimated to be worth £1.1 billion worldwide.
Lasers, including non-invasive light procedures and fractionated skin resurfacing treatments, were ranked second.
Dermal fillers were the third most popular aesthetic treatment of 2012, with brands including Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane and Radiesse all widely used.
Looking ahead to 2013, the Ideate predicts broadband light (BBL) treatments, used to reduce sun spots, wrinkles and loss of elasticity, will grow in demand. According to a Stanford University study, BBL can “change the expression of genes associated with the aging process to more closely resemble young skin.”
