The Ritz-Carlton group is continuing its global expansion with the opening of two new hotels in China and the announcement of a future Reserve collection property on Panama’s Pearl Island.

Opening in Southwestern China earlier this month, the 41 storey Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu comprises 353 guest rooms and suites and contains a Ritz-Carlton Spa featuring 10 treatment rooms, including two couple’s suites, heated jade stone beds, a beauty salon, a fitness centre and a 25 meter indoor swimming pool with an underwater music sound system.

Drawing inspiration from Chengdu’s location along the historic Silk Road, the spa incorporates materials such as wood, metal, marble and silk from the region. The hotel also features four restaurants and bars and 1,700sq m of meeting and events space.

Also opening this month, The Ritz-Carlton, Tianji in Northeastern China marks the hospitality group’s tenth property in the country. The property, which features 330 Art Deco inspired rooms and suites, houses a Ritz-Carlton Spa, a fitness centre and four restaurants, among other amenities.

Plans were this month also announced for the construction of a Ritz-Carlton Reserve property on Panama’s private, 3,500-acre, Pearl Island. Containing 80 rooms, the reserve will include three swimming pools, a beach club, three restaurants and a Ritz-Carlton Spa – complete with outdoor treatment pavilions and treetop spa villas, among other facilities.

Attractions on the island will include the unique wildlife, with more than 700 types of fish and a 150-species bird sanctuary being among the draws.
