Fancy yourself as one of the leading nail techs in the country?
Want to make your mark in the industry? Get your talent recognised and win some amazing prizes along the way at the International Nail Championships taking place alongside Professional Beauty London on 26-27 February at ExCeL London.
Have an eye for detail
“Entering competitions takes a lot of dedication and practice but is essential to stay on top of your game in this ever-growing industry. It really is one of the best things you can do to challenge yourself. Read the rules then re-read them to make sure you don’t lose points on simple things,” says Katie Barnes, director at Simply Nails and Beauty in Warwick, who placed first in the Nail Masters Category at the North Nail Championships 2016.
Don’t be overzealous
“Pick a category that’s within your comfort zone and set yourself a goal of how many times per week you’re going to practise. This will push you to focus on your weaker areas, which will help improve your work,” explains Hazel Dixon, owner of Purely Nailz Salon in Thetford, two-time winner of the Professional Beauty Award for Nail Professional of the Year and a frequent winner and judge on the competition circuit.
