The nail tech Shea Osei who is responsible for the iconic nail looks in the hit movie Wicked will be unleashing her creativity at Professional Beauty North. The celebrity nail artist will host our 'Learn a Skill' nail competition on the Professional Beauty Stage on Sunday, 28th September, at Manchester Central Convention Centre.
Watch a live demo on the Professional Beauty Stage from Cynthia Erivo's long time collaborator and nail artist for the movie Wicked, Shea Osei - as she teaches you a unique design using a variety of products and signature techniques. You'll be tasked with replicating a demonstrated design, then creating your own twist on the technique to wow our judges!
- 30 minutes to watch the demo & plan your twist
- 60 minutes to design 3 tips on sticks (tips provided!)
- 1 tip = replicate Shea’s demo
- 2 tips = your own creative twist using the new skill
All participants will receive a product list one week prior to the competition. You can use items from the list, or similar products from another brand. This competition welcomes both professionals and students.

Meet Shea Osei
Shea Osei is the creative behind Cynthia Erivo’s nails in the blockbuster movie Wicked. Known for her bold designs and empowering approach to nail artistry, Shea has been collaborating with nail lover Erivo for over fifteen years. For the film she created more than 35 sets that followed Elphaba’s journey through colour, mood and transformation. From soft green gradients to rich emerald finishes, every look told a story and stayed flawless through stunts, flying scenes and closeups.
It’s rare to experience a cultural event in which nails have their own spotlight in the way Shea’s designs have for Erivo’s movie character and red carpet premieres which catapulted nail artistry into mainstream interest. Shea’s session is for any nail tech who wants to be inspired to defy gravity in their career and reach for the stars.
