Acne biggest skincare concern for young men
Acne and spotty skin are the top skincare concerns for young men, highlighting an opportunity for salons to capture this client group.
Consumer electricals brand Braun conducted a survey of young men about to start university to find out about their grooming routines and what they care about most when it comes to their appearance.
Unsurprisingly, the majority (69%) complained that severe acne or milder breakouts were their biggest “grooming nightmare”, while 37% said the puffy face that follows a night of drinking was their biggest concern. Third overall were under eye bags, and 2% of the men said they wear make-up to help cover these up.
When it comes to tending to their appearance before a date or big night, 18% were in the habit of doing a full body exfoliation followed by moisturising, and 4% said they apply a face mask at home. The most common prep was a beard trim (81%), while 21% thought it important to “manscape” other hair on the body.
With men becoming increasingly open to doing more to care for their appearance, how can salons and spas attract more of them in for professional treatments? Let us know your ideas for capturing young male clientele in the comments.
