How to run a successful medi-spa

Want to run the most popular and profitable medi-spa in your region?

Esther Fieldgrass, founder of aesthetics group EF Medispa, reveals her five top tips for setting your medi-spa on the path to success, from making your service first-class to understanding your clients and the market.

Esther Fieldgrass’ 5 top tips for running a successful medi-spa:

  1. Make the right first impression

“It’s how you react to your client, it’s all about service. Today, more than ever, there’s so much more competition out there that you should be key upon your service,” says Fieldgrass.

  1. Put service at the centre

“People will stay with you once they get to know you and it’s that loyalty that builds up. This is what business is all about today,” explains Fieldgrass. “Be really good at what you know and what you’re giving out.”

  1. Know more than your clients

“Clients today are very savvy – they are skin intellectuals,” says Fieldgrass. “They come in nowadays having read so much and they expect you to know as much as they do, and often I find people within the industry don’t know as much as the person walking in through the door. It’s about the knowledge within the industry.”

  1. Know your market

“You need to know who your market is – are you looking at millennials? Or slightly older clients? Who is going to be your customer? You need to know who you’re dealing with and have the right treatments for that person,” explains Fieldgrass.

  1. Find a mentor

“If I was starting over again I would look for a mentor because sometimes when you’re breaking into the market and you’re all on your own you need someone to give you advice. It’s one of the reasons I went into franchising, so I could mentor people,” adds Fieldgrass.
