Emma Bennett, owner of Advanced Facialist, based at the Amida Spa in London’s Chelsea Harbour Club, talks about the hottest trends in aesthetics and reveals her top tips for making the move from beauty salon to skin clinic.
In our exclusive video, Bennett covers four key areas:
- People want personalisation – “Clients want a more bespoke approach to their treatments. Before, you would just have a menu and your clients would choose a treatment. Now, a client will come in and they wouldn’t have necessarily booked a certain treatment, so it’s down to the therapist to analyse the skin and make a bespoke treatment personal to them,” says Bennett.
- Advanced is in – “There’s a shift between the more pampering side of treatments to advanced treatments, such as dermal needling, chemical peels and laser,” adds Bennett. “The client wants to feel like they are going to leave the salon and really feel something has been done to their skin.”
- Pampering is out – “The pampering treatments have a place… but in terms of actually treating the skin with regards to concerns and problematic skins, [consumers] are looking for skin clinics that specialise in more advanced treatments,” explains Bennett.
- More training is required – “If you are going to be offering these types of treatments, you really need to be at the top of your game to perform them safely. So, for any salon thinking about turning in to more of a skin clinic it’s really about training and getting some good staff with you,” she adds.
