The majority of women have never had a skincare consultation

One in three women don’t know what their skin type is and 81% have never had a professional skincare consultation.

These stats were revealed as part of a research project by French skincare brand Guinot, which commissioned market research company TNS to conduct a survey into women’s skincare habits in the UK.

The survey also found that of 1,000 women, 52% have bought products to tackle certain skincare concerns but found them to be unsatisfactory.

The research was commissioned to mark the launch of the #knowmyskin campaign, which Guinot hopes will encourage clients to book a free consultation in a salon to get to know their skin’s needs and recommended regime.

Guinot first spoke about the campaign at its conference in January, where delegates were also given a sneak preview of Hydraderm Cellular Energy, Guinot’s new machine for face and body treatments, and listened to talks from chief executive Jean Daniel Mondin and UK managing director Chris Gillam before the evening awards ceremony.
