The spa at London’s Abbey Leisure Centre opens
The Abbey spa at the Abbey Leisure Centre in the London borough of Barking and Dagenham opened yesterday. The spa forms part of a £14million investment into the leisure centre as a whole.
Facilities at the spa, which opened along with the rest of the leisure centre yesterday, include a 100sq m thermal area featuring a hydrotherapy pool with massage jets, experience showers, a rock sauna and crystal, salt and aromatherapy steam rooms.
Other spa amenities include a relaxation room and heated benches. The leisure centre has been designed by AFLS+P Architects, with thermal facilities provide by sauna and steam room experts Dalesauna.
Dean Edwards, sales manager at Dalesauna, said: " The council has been very innovative in their choice of facilities, ensuring that the new spa will be a great additional revenue stream and attract people who may not have considered using a local authority centre previously."
Recreational facilities at the leisure centre also include a 25m swimming pool, a teaching pool, a gym, three fitness studios, a soft play area and a café.
