Warpaint & Clothes Show Emerging Make-Up Artist of the Year winner announce

Make-up Artist Michelle Kerslake was awarded the title of The Clothes Show Live Emerging Make-up Artist of the Year 2014 yesterday at a competition held in collaboration with Professional Beauty.

Winners from the Warpaint Make-up Competition held at Professional Beauty North 2013 back in October made their way to compete in a 90-minute live final on stage on Sunday 8 December at the Clothes Show Live for a chance to win Emerging Make-Up Artist of the Year.

Our four finalists:

? Fashion winner at Professional Beauty North: Dee Hargreaves

?  SFX winner at Professional Beauty North: Jodie Marie Spencer

? Edit winner at Professional Beauty North: Michelle Kerslake

?  Real Beauty winner at Professional Beauty North: Natalie Proctor

The audience was kept entertained while the finalists worked on their models in the 90 minute final with Clothes Show ambassador Caryn Franklin conducting live interviews with the three judges, Sinead Buckley, pro MUA and owner of blog Beauty By Blondie, Eve Oxberry, Group Editor at Professional Beauty, and Chloe Gamblin, director of make-up school Sparkle Box Studios, as well as discussions with the finalists. A live Q&A then took place where the audience were able to ask questions about the industry and the latest tips for make-up.

All finalists presented their take on the 1950s theme in different ways, making it a tough choice for the judges to make a decision. However, after much deliberation Michelle Kerslake  [pictured] was announced the ultimate winner.

Michelle, who has over six years' experience as a make-up artist, impressed the judges with her application skills, flawless blending and impactful eye make-up. Her model was made-up to look like a classic Hollywood starlet of the ཮s era with hair done beautifully to match.

As well as a trophy and a goodie bag, Michelle won the opportunity to take part as an assistant make-up artist in the official Clothes Show Live Bright Young Things 2014 photo-shoot and her work from the shoot will be featured in a forthcoming issue of Professional Beauty magazine. She will also be automatically entered into the the Warpaint Make-Up Competition at Professional Beauty London 2014 taking place on 23-24 February 2013 at London Excel.

Well done to everybody who took part. The Warpaint Make-up Competition will be back again at Professional Beauty's flagship event, attracting over 30,000 trade professionals from across the globe, taking place at ExCeL London on 23-24 February 2014.
