World Wellness Weekend to be celebrated in 100 countries this year

The third annual World Wellness Weekend will take place on September 21 to 22 this year.

Billed to be celebrated in 2,000 venues in 100 countries including Argentina, Cyprus, Norway, Pakistan and the UK, World Wellness Weekend is an initiative created to encourage spa, wellness and leisure professionals to promote wellness activities to the public.

Each venue taking part – including hotels, resorts, spas, yoga and fitness studios and sports clubs – will organise at least one free 60-minute activity or workshop for the public or local community.

Spa groups and wellness properties taking part across the globe include Anantara, Canyon Ranch, Chiva Som, Como, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Rocco Forte, Shangri-La and Six Senses.

Free activities taking place include zumba and yoga classes, nutrition lectures, sound bathing meditation, and guided walks.

To participate, venues can register online for a page to promote their business and planned activities, appearing on the World Wellness Map. There is also a participation kit to help participating businesses maximise visibility around the weekend.

“It is an honour and a pleasure to lead this global wellness initiative bringing together 36 international associations, leading hotel groups and operators.

“Beyond design and marketing, what makes people want to return to a property dedicated to fitness, beauty and tourism is the talent of the teams, their expertise and their passion to care for people and deliver experiences rich in meaning and sensations, as transformative as possible,” commented Jean-Guy de Gabriac, founder of World Wellness Weekend and spa advisory Tip Touch International.

Spas can also get involved in National Spa Week, a seperate, UK-only initiative to promote spa usage, taking place in November, but this year with a focus on those working in the industry.
