Amy Childs to open college beauty academy

Reality TV star and salon owner Amy Childs is launching a beauty academy in partnership with Stafford College this June.

The Amy Childs Academy will take over the college’s existing multimillion pound purpose built Beauty Academy and will officially launch on June 30 during ‘welcome to college week’, where Childs will be making a personal appearance for a ribbon cutting ceremony, to speak with students and meet with beauty tutors.

The Amy Childs Academy will offer courses in beauty and will aim to educate students in best practice using the latest equipment as well as create work experience and apprenticeship vacancies.

24 year-old Amy owns a salon and tanning academy and has her own line of beauty and tanning products. As part of the partnership, the academy – which is also open to the public – will be rebranded and stocked with Amy Childs products, and staff will be given upskill training.

Beverley Smith, principal of Stafford College, said: “The opening of The Amy Childs Academy will give our beauty students fantastic career opportunities and by having Amy on board I would like our students to draw inspiration from her business acumen and success. “This is now the fourth academy we have opened directly with employers this academic year as we look to give our students every chance to gain the enterprise and employability skills needed to have a successful career.”

Childs commented: “I want the Amy Childs Academy to showcase beauty as a rewarding career path and to inspire the next generation entrepreneurs.”
