EF Medispa to manage Resort World Birmingham's Santai Wellness Spa

Medispa group EF Medispa is set to develop and manage the spa at the Resorts World Birmingham leisure and entertainment complex, it has been announced.

EF Medispa has been appointed to oversee Santai Wellness Spa, located in the Genting Hotel, which forms part of the £150 million complex, set to open on the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) site in September.

The Asian-themed spa, which will draw on the heritage of the Malaysia-based Genting Group, will feature nine treatment rooms.

Other facilities at the spa will include an indoor swimming pool, a salt cave, a sauna, an outdoor hot tub and a gym.

EF Medispa, which operates three clinics in London, in Kensington, Chelsea and St John’s Wood, has developed a series of signature treatments for Santai Wellness Spa.

In an interview with Professional Spa & Wellness’ sister publication Professional Beauty earlier this month, EF Medispa founder Esther Fieldgrass explained: “I’m integrating packages that I can’t do [at EF Medispa].

“Things with water, for example. I’ll do much more elongated packages that combine the spa and medi-spa elements, and I’ve got my nutritionist up there so I can look at diet programmes.”

Speaking of the decision to work with EF Medispa on the spa, Barry Clemo, business development director for Resorts World Birmingham, said: “We are delighted to working with the team at EF Medispa to bring an exciting new concept and offer to our hotel.

“Resorts World Birmingham’s ethos is to bring innovative leisure experiences to our guests and the treatments being devised by EF Medispa will deliver on that promise.”

Fieldgrass added: ‘I’m thrilled to be working with Genting UK to develop Santai Spa at Resorts World Birmingham. We are providing a turnkey package that integrates our unique medi-spa concept into a traditional spa environment.

“We have seen an evolving trend as regular visitors to spas are now seeking more results-driven therapies to complement their hotel stays and. I believe we have designed the ideal blend of treatments to suit the diverse range of visitors to this amazing venue"
