Global Mentorship Pilot Program names first UK mentee
Rockliffe Hall spa manager Victoria Lees is to be the first UK mentee in international spa and wellness mentorine scheme the Global Mentorship Pilot Program.

The programme launched in January and is the global spa and wellness industry’s first mentorship initiative, spearheaded by a team of spa and wellness experts from around the world.

It pairs experienced spa directors with spa managers at the start of their careers who are seeking guidance and inspiration. Each mentorship pair meets twice a month in videoconference or by phone over three months to hash out career challenges identified by the mentee.

The project is led by Jean-Guy de Gabriac, chief executive of international spa training and consultancy Tip Touch and conference producer of the Professional Spa & Wellness Convention, and Deborah Smith, principal of Smith Club & Spa Specialists, a US-based wellness consultancy.

Lees was selected from numerous applications based to her track record, the potential she displays, and her eagerness to join and contribute to the success of the programme, according to Gabriac.

After its first session, the programme currently reaches 22 countries with 17 mentors and 34 mentees. It is now preparing to expand its reach, with an objective of bringing on board 50 mentors to guide and inspire 150 mentees in 2016. Applications for the 2016 program will be open from May 1 to July 31, 2015.

Commenting on the first session, Gabriac said: “Mentees spoke of gaining confidence in presenting marketing ideas, motivating staff, and taking action to improve the financial health of the spa. One even said that, while the mentorship session has concluded, it felt like the beginning of a new chapter in their life.”
