Breast cancer charity Going for Bust is set to open a beauty salon in Wimborne to support people suffering or recovering from the disease.

The charity, which operates 10 fundraising shops across Dorset and the New Forest, applied for permission to change the use of its base in Wimborne so it could deliver pampering sessions to those who need it most.

In the application to the council, charity representative Paul Martin said the salon would “offer massages, facial treatments and reflexology, as well as hair trimming or re-styling for people who are losing or re-growing their hair after chemotherapy.”

The proposal was approved by East Dorset District Council.

Going for Bust is dedicated to raising funds through its charity shops for local hospitals and support groups in the fight to combat breast cancer in the East Dorset and West Hampshire areas.

Other UK beauty salons have also launched important charity initiatives this year – from one business offering free make-up course to keep teens out of trouble to several giving free facials to clients who attend their smear test.
