The Hakkasan restaurant and nightlife group is set to open its first hotel on Dubai’s manmade Palm Jumeirah island. Construction on the beachfront property will begin in 2014 and will be overseen by HKK Hospitality, the hospitality arm of the Hakkasan group. Property amenities will include dining and entertainment venues.
Neil Moffitt, chief executive of Hakkasan Ltd and HKK Hospitality, said: "We are excited to create a luxurious resort in one of the world's most important business and leisure destinations. As we move forward with our plans for expansion, this project serves as a strategic step towards developing our brand across the globe." The announcement of Hakkasan’s first foray into the hotel industry follows the opening of the group’s most recent restaurant, the 929sq m Hakkasan Beverly Hills, on September 19.
The group, which already operates restaurants in a string of global locations that include London, New York, Miami, San Francisco, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Mumbai, will also be adding Hakkasan Shanghai to its international dining portfolio in early 2014. Plans are also in motion for the expansion of the Hakkasan group’s other brands, which include Japanese restaurant Sake No Hana, dim sum teahouse Yauatcha and HKK.
Hakkasan chairman Khadem Al Qubaisi, said: "In addition to our hotel project, the growth of Hakkasan will include new restaurants and nightlife venues, day clubs, spas, boutique hotels and other hospitality and lifestyle offerings in key locations around the world."
