How tapping into men's grooming can boost your salon appointments over winter

The days are getting colder, the nights are getting darker, and the clocks have stolen another hour of light from the day. However, with change there is opportunity, and we have noticed that every November there is a seasonal change that you may not be cashing in on yet in your salon.

Over the past five years, there has been large spikes in interest for men’s skincare in the winter, which is evident from the increase in Google searches. This can clearly be seen from the screenshot below – the red circles represent November-to-December 2016–2020.

What’s more, since 2020 there has been a greater volume of searches for men’s skincare, so demand is there. If your salon does not market to men at all, then maybe it is worth looking at what additional services could be offered to boost your bottom line. It isn’t just Google searches that have gone up either.

The men’s cosmetic industry has been growing rapidly over the past few years, and what better place to introduce your clients to this blossoming industry than when providing them with their first facial.

If a client comes in for a facial, then sell them a toner and moisturiser at the end of the appointment to cover all the extra cost that Christmas brings.
