Waxer Kerri-Ann Angus launches CBD face and body range for salons and spas
Kerri-Ann Angus, owner of Peaches salons and the Peaches Academy, is launching a vegan-friendly CBD face and body skincare range into the industry next month.
The Peaches Wellness CBD retail range will land in July featuring a body butter, lip balm, roll on, cooling gel and gummies, with a facial skincare range coming in August. A professional-only line for beauty salons and spas is also in the works, which will feature a massage oil, body oil and bath salts, and it will complement the brand’s CBD facial and body treatment course, both launching in the winter.
Cannabidiol (CBD oil) is a safe, naturally occurring constituent in the cannabis plant which is said to have anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties on the skin – and the global CBD skincare market is forecasted to reach £741 million by 2024.
It is not to be confused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the psychoactive component in the plant that causes the sensation of getting high.
As someone who has always been interested in CBD and has benefited from use of the ingredient, approaching a lab to make her own natural and vegan-friendly CBD range seemed the right move for Angus.
“Our endocannabinoid system – a complex cell-signalling system that is made up of endocannabinoids (also called endogenous cannabinoids) that are similar to the cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis – play a role in in regulating our memory, mood, sleep, appetite and even our reproduction and fertility, and this got me super interested in finding out as much as possible on the benefits and uses of CBD,” Angus told Professional Beauty.
“Experts believe that CBD takes effect by preventing the breakdown of endocannabinoids in your system, almost giving them strength to stay completely stable and effective in doing their job around the body. Because CBD is thought to support the stability of your endocannabinoid system, this means that anything the ECS is responsible for should benefit.”
