Perfection Health and Beauty to double in size following PB awards win

Wiltshire salon Perfection Health and Beauty is set to double in size to accommodate a spurt in client demand since it won the 2015 Professional Beauty Award for Beauty Salon of the Year: Three Rooms or Fewer in February.

Owner Michelle Stead has enlisted the help of her husband and father to carry out the renovation work on the upper floor of the salon’s home, a barn on Cowage Farm Park.

Stead said, “Since we won the award, our occupancy levels have increased significantly. We managed by opening for longer hours and putting a shift pattern in place as well as taking on new therapists, but we are still unable to accommodate all appointment requests, hence the plan to expand.”

The upstairs space was previously used as a staff, stock and laundry room. It is now being converted into two additional treatment rooms and an open-plan manicure and pedicure lounge, which will replicate the nail treatments carried out on the ground floor but in the relaxed atmosphere of a treatment room.

Stead originally planned to use the space for a couples’ room, but after consulting with clients via a survey including sketches of the plans, she discovered what clients really wanted was more appointment availability and, therefore, as many treatment rooms as the space would allow.

“Even though we open 9am-9pm through the week we turn away so many people because we just can’t fit them in,” added Stead.

Refurbishment work is being carried out through the night so as not to disrupt clients. Stead said she hoped to have one of the treatment rooms ready before Christmas, while the estimated completion date for the whole project is March 2016.
